Who takes the blame?

Ok, so this whole scamming thing really has bad effect on us.
I can't go some where and be like "I'm a Nigerian" without getting that LOOK! (though I can claim be my other half any time). Some times they ask me "So what you doing here?" like the only place we belong is in the bush (or where ever it is they think!!). But being fu'king PROUD as I am of my identity, I don't give a sh't!!
The
High Commissioner, Mr.Sunday Olu Agbi, thinks the victims are to be blamed for their greediness....but is this REALLY the case??

Read some comments here carefully, see what they say: Thoughts
The part where they say Nigerian leaders are to be blamed for the poor economy, low standard of education, inadequate job offers (with GOOD payment) and such, make ALOT sense to me....what about you?

But really, who is to be blamed?

I think, the government for using our money on themselves instead of our economy, education, and other critical issues (though countless promises are made on this). The greedy for looking an easy way. The heartless for taking advantage of the naive. The media for twisting facts. The lazy artiest. The parent for not caring enough. The ones looking for who blame when they are to be blamed as well!! But hey that's just me!

So who YOU think is to be blamed??

I am of the opinion that we can't keep blaming the government for our collective inadequacies. Besides, learning to accept responsibilities is the very first step towards building a better and a stronger Nigeria.

I think what we need is a massive sensitization of all Nigerians which should be geared towards re-branding this great nation.

This starts from doing the little we can individually to make a difference!

Nice post.

Yes, as they say charity begins at home...but how long would it take for the giant to awake??
Is it when all hope is drained from our souls? when tears turn to dust? when youth crawl on their knees from weakness or hopelessness?? or when mother's breast dries out of hunger?

When would this 'BETTER days' come?? We are tried! We are weak! We only walk with masked smiles!
But hey! That's what makes Nigeria GREAT!!

Thx first comer :P

we are all guilty and that's teh truth...yes the guilty is government...or rather the government is guilty but what exactly do we do to change our environment?

Dammy had made my point really. Tears, I read ur response to his comment. I do believe we are our own problems. As individual or a soceity we keep settling for less by making bad people our leaders.
We prefer to be selfish than to be selfless. We purse vanity, we add more problems to the ones the govt cant solve by our acts of irresponsiblities.

I blame the govt too for thinking the are thier to be worshipped and not to be the servants. For thinking National cake is to be embezzled.

But... must we let them continue to ruin our lives? Must we be selfish too? We need to take charge and be ready to build our own very Nation. Whatever it takes

The scammers can put their brains to a better use, they can choose not to be a victim of circumstance. ...

think the government is to blame, I get what Dammy is saying and its tru, we shouldn't have to blame the govt for our inadequacies....except d govt is responsible for those inadequacies. It's pretty hard to hold on to strong moral principles when a whole society is urging you to do otherwise, heck we are victims of circumstances brought on by our govt, if we can't blame who do we blame?? but dat's just me...

well i really wnt know where to point the finger ut one thing i do know is that the healing process might have began here with us knowing that we are needed to effect the change, to turn things around.it begins right here-with us!hi Tears

yes, if someone says he needs money to go to school and u give it...it was out of the goodness of ur heart so if the person eventually goes to school or not is btw him and his God...but most of the dcams they do here ia lottery scam or one that says someone died and they need to move the money fast into ur account...the victim is already thinking of how he will get the money and bail...

hmmmm...I agree with Dammy...nigerians 'all' need to take responsibility for their acttions....

However we need to call a spade a spade..if someone in jand robs a bank will we blame gorndon brown and the credit crunch. Bottom line we are all facing problems, but we dont go about stealing from each other to solve it.

I firmly believe that nigeiran governments have failed it people. In everyway possible. But we nigerians are not doing much to help ourselves....

They say the customer is always right, so I think that alone lends toward the adage of the government being MOSTLY to blame.

My heart says that since we are all responsible for our actions to a certain extent, I think blame should be spread around. I could be wrong though.

Man i know how it feels to wanna hide ur nigerian identity at times, it freaking sucks but what do u do? Its just too bad that a small section of the population has succeeded in making all of us look bad. e go better sha.
